I keep getting a "download failed - limit exceeded" error message. What should I do?

You may be getting this error message if you don't have an account.  It is free to  create a Quandl account. You might also be getting this message if you're not logged in. Here's how to fix it:

  • If you're using the website to download data, just log in to your account.
  • If you're using the API or one of our libraries, just provide your API key as a parameter to your calls.
  • If you're using the Excel add-in, just add your API key in the preferences menu.

You may also be getting this error message because you're exceeding our server's download limit. If this is the case, please slow down your requests to comply with our rate limits. If you need a higher rate limit for your application, please  email us.
